City Airport is located in London. Out of all the airports in London, City Airport was the fifth busiest during the course of 2008. When compared to all of the airports in the United Kingdom, City Airport ranked as the fifteenth busiest during the same year. It’s estimated that over three million passengers arrived or departed from City Airport in 2008, which is a twelve percent increase from the year before. The airport has already created plans for expanding their airport to have the ability to handle eight million passengers a year by 2030.
The airport is a single-runway facility, and is used by “Short Take Off and Landing” aircraft. Although City Airport plans on increasing their capacity as explained above, they do not intend on building another runway. The main function of City Airport is to provide service to the financial district of London.
If you are picking someone up from the airport, you can take advantage of the short term parking provided by the airport. The lowest price of short term parking is £4.00, and increases depending on how long you keep your car parked. If you are driving yourself to the airport before a trip, you can also book a long term parking spot, which will cost you less than if you kept your car parked in the short term parking for the duration of your trip.
If you are arriving at the City Airport and need a car hire, you will be able to find desks for Avis, Europcar and Hertz on the ground floor of the terminal. To get the best rate available, it is advised to book your car hire in advance.
