Despite London City Airport being a small, single runway facility, its unique location near the financial district places it the fifth busiest airport in the London area with nearly three million flyers passing through it every year. Although designed as a short takeoff and landing field, which cannot accommodate the larger commercial aircraft, it is still a central hub for business flyers. With this much traffic coming for a specific purpose, the hotel industry has a major showing in the area so these business people will have a place to stay as they work.
